According to the experts, one of the best waves in the Bay of Biscay are in Deba. In a few kilometers, we can find a big amount of waves with an excellent (unbeatable) quality and for surfers with every level.
The beaches Santiago and Lapari are extraordinary to start surfing, as they are beaches that do not have a big slope, the foam goes a long way. That is why it is a suitable place to learn to surf. When the tide is down, these two beaches do one and there is a varied offer of waves.
IPAR surf & skate school is located on Deba's Santiago beach, on the Cardenas pasealekua promenade.
It offers a wide variety of surf courses for surfers of all levels.

Yako Surf school is located on the Santiago beach, in Deba. The permanent school is at the 20 Hondartza kalea street and the summer school at the end of the estuary.
It offers a wide variety of courses, such as surf, stand-up paddle and surfskate for children, teenagers and adults. In July and August they organize surf camps for childem and teenagers between 6 and 13 years old. The school also rents equipment for surfesrs of all levels and they also offer a service to keep boards, changin rooms and showers.
They are members of the Euskadi Surfing product club.

Uda Kirola is a program that offers surf, body board and paddlesurf courses.
In summer the sport department of the municipality organizes surf, body board and padle surf lessons for young people from 6 to 16 years old. The courses are in Deba's Santiago beach and they last five days, that is, from Monday to Friday.

The surfing code of conduct is made up of a series of universal norms that try to define the unwritten laws of surfing so as to make it safer. This code should be followed by all surfers whatever level they are at.
